  83. NOTE: If the setup program is run under Windows 95, both Windows
  84. and DOS drivers are installed.  
  85.  
  86. If the setup program is run under Windows NT (while using an 
  87. Administrator account) Windows NT drivers and 3Dfx device services
  88. are installed. (Currently, only Voodoo Graphics is supported under
  89. Windows NT)
  90.  
  91. COMPATABILITY NOTICE: If you are using 3Dfx Direct3D drivers for 
  92. Voodoo Graphics with the Glide 2.42 runtime drivers, you MUST upgrade
  93. to 3Dfx Direct3D 2.1 or higher drivers.  The FXMEMMAP.VXD included in 
  94. this kit is NOT compatible with the version provided with older 3Dfx
  95. Direct3D drivers.  If you do NOT use the 3Dfx Direct3D drivers you
  96. don't need to do anything.

  98. 1) Run the self extracting Glide 2.42 Runtime Drivers .exe file.
  99. 2) Click Setup.
  100. 3) Follow the on screen prompts.
  101. 4) After installation you may need to reboot the system.

  105. Troubleshooting Voodoo Graphics

  110. Q: I have an S3 968/868 video card, why does my system lock
  111. up when I run a Glide or Direct3D title.
  112.  
  113. A: S3 968 and 868 chipsets may misreport the mapped memory used.
  114. There is a chance that your Voodoo Graphics card will be 
  115. assigned by Plug and Play a memory range that is used by the S3
  116. card, but not reported.   The Voodoo Graphics card can be 
  117. relocated by:

  120.     Windows 95 Users:  Please download the S3 Fix kit
  121.     from the Downloads/Updates section of http://www.3dfx.com
  122.  
  123.  
  124.     Windows NT Users: An NT service called NTREMAP is 
  125.         installed when Glide is added to an NT system.
  126.     NTREMAP can change the memory address of a Voodoo 
  127.     Graphics board and prevent a conflict with an S3 card.
  128.  
  129.     To use NTREMAP, add the following registry values to:
  130.     \HKLM\Software\3Dfx Interactive\NTRemap
  131.

  137.     The Force Address setting will vary, in this example
  138.     0x12000000 is used.  This is normally free on most
  139.     systems.

  141.     NOTE: If you use an address that over-writes another
  142.     device, Windows NT may not boot.  If such a problem 
  143.     occurs, power off the system and remove your Voodoo 
  144.     Graphics.  Alter the registry to use a different
  145.     memory range (or remove the ForceAddress setting).
  146.     Then Reinstall the Voodoo Graphics card into your 
  147.     system.

  152. Q: The display seems dark when a Glide title is running, how
  153. do I make the display brighter?
  154.  
  155. A: Using a file editor (ie: Notepad), edit your \AUTOEXEC.BAT
  156. file.  Add the following lines
  157.  
  158.     SET SST_RGAMMA=1.7
  159.     SET SST_BGAMMA=1.7
  160.     SET SST_GGAMMA=1.7
  161.  
  162.     1.7 is the default value, increasing past this setting
  163.     will raise gamma.  It is however suggested that you
  164.     don't raise the setting past 1.9

  179. icon.  This will brighten Windows based Glide titles.  It will
  180. not adjust DOS based Glide titles.
